| First, thanks for having accept to
answer these some questions. No problem
Creating Storm was a long process for all the members. We worked on the songs in a period of 3 years, which was straining due to member changes and also change of record companies and management. It was a great relief to finally get the finished album and put the CD into the player and really enjoy it through the speakers.
The biggest difference concerning that Nell is the new front lady, is her involvement into the band. She is involved on a different level in the band than Liv was. Mostly with the writing of songs, but also she has a higher party-factor on the road. J
We have always approached each album in different ways of writing. This time we put much effort in making the songs around basic elements such as guitar, vocal, piano, drums and bass. We also worked on the songs much more in the rehearsal room than before. We wanted the songs to be more live and not so programmed.
Everyone is involved in the songwriting, although some are doing more of the writing than others; but everyone is involved in one way or the other.
Lyrics are mainly about the small moments in life that sums up to be big issues later in life. The lyrics are written by Nell and Raymond, and inspirations are form the daily life of each one of us, or life and death in general and how we think about it.
My favourite track is "Fade". It contains one of the best pianolines I’ve made and it is about our childhood memories that fades away with time. The song express a lot both musically and lyrically. But it loud on the stereosystem and enjoy over a glass red wine.
The video was shot in some huge building in Nuremberg, Germany. It was cold and the heavy use of windmachines tried to freeze us to death during a day of shooting. It was hard to it but really fun. I got to smash up my keyboard once again. J
We have been influenced by many bands and songs during the years. Of course there are bands that stand the test of time, and who we still enjoy just as much as before, for me it is Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails. But the rest would disagree with me to some extent and say other bands, but that’s the way the symbiosis of ToT works. We are very different regarding taste and personalities and it’ therefore exciting making music but also very very very very strenuous.
Well the two bands above have lots of good songs and albums. DM – Ultra and Nin – The Fragile are two of my favourites. One of my favourite song is Snow Blind by This Empty Flow – Magenta Skycode, brilliant song.
Actually I am so outdated on the scene I don’t really now which band to listen to in the genre anymore. I had a sneak listen to Evanescense album and I was far from impressed, Lacuna Coil new album is good, but is more Nu-metal than goth I would say. We are going to play the Metal female voices festival in October. I guess I will get an update there, If I am not to drunk.
What happens on the road, stays on the road! But yes I have a lot of stories and No I won’t share. Sorry J
It has been a long and lazy summer. Many of the members are involved very much in the ordinary work, study, eat , shit , sleep life for the moment. We are not sure about what to start next. The only thing sure is that nothing is sure with this band.
Hi all listeners. Hope you are all
doing well. I hope we can come and play for all of France, last time we
only got to play Paris and it was one of our best shows ever. Hope we
could do it again, but only for more cities, and listen to Metal
