Interview The End

Can you remain to us the story of The End ?

Five dudes on a journey to rock the world.  Simply put.

What are your biggest musical influences ?

From Metallica, to Radiohead, to Miles Davis, we love it all.

How would you describe your music in your own words ?

Our music is some real heavy bone crushing shit.

Can you tell us more about your new album called « Elementary » ?

Well its our new creation, we love it, and we are super excited for it to come out.  We tried a whole bunch of new things on this record, and we can’t wait to get out there and play the songs in front of people.

Who created the artwork ?

Colin Marks our new friend from the U.K.  took all of the phorographs. The concept and art direction was that of Andrew Hercules.

Can you speak to us about the recording sessions ?

We recorded with our good friend Greg Dawson, in Brampton Ontario.  We spent about 3 months getting this record all put together. It was a very relaxed easy going environment, it was alot of fun.

How did you proceed for the composition ?

We all compose the songs in our rehersal space.  We just bring our ideas to the table and keep working on them over and over again.  Then we will take those ideas into the demo studio and record them. We will listen to the recordings and decided what we like and what we dont like. Then we get right back into the jam space and keep fixing the song until its just right. It takes us a long time to write music.

What are the lyrics talking about ? Where do you find inspiration ?

Inspiration is all around us at all times, books, movies, music, but more importantly the things we experience as individuals and as a band. The songs are mainly about our lives, and the way that we feel and the way that we see things.  There is A LOT of content in the album to dive into, but on the surface the songs are about the band members.

What's your favourite track on « Elementary » and why ?

I really enjoy And Always, its something very different from what we have done in the past, it took alot of exploring new ideas and i just really couldnt be happier with the way in turned out.  I think that there is a lot of emotion in that song.  Everytime i listen to it i still get the shivers.

What are your favourite bands and all times albums ?

They kind of change on a day to day basis.  Right now im listening to a lot of Bjork, Radiohead, and Jeff Buckley.

Are there any plans for an upcoming tour ?

We are currently out on the road, and will be finshing up in just a few days. At the end of february we head out on a short bit of dates with Poison The Well in southern U.S.A.
