The album was recorded in April 2006 with producer Jacob Hansen at his studio. The record consists of 10 tracks and is like a hammer to your face! The album features intense Thrash Metal inspired by older stuff to get maximum energy and drive and mixed with more modern stuff like keyboard and samples to create a special atmosphere.

I write all the riffs for the songs and also build up the song structures. I record all the music at home on my computer and then send the stuff to the other guys for them to check out and start to get ideas. Then we take the songs in to our rehearsal room and the other guys come with a lot of cool ideas how to optimize the songs 100%.


How did you proceed for the composition ?

I’m 100% responsible for writing all the riffs and the music in The Arcane Order. Basically I just write all the music at home and record it on my computer. Afterwards I send the stuff to the other guys and have them come up with cool ideas and what not and then we arrange the songs together as a team. It’s a good way to work and this way it’s easier to do a record that is going in one direction and only one, instead of a problem with 5 different people doing riffs and ending up having a record that would be going in 5 different directions.


What are the lyrics talking about, and where do you find inspiration ?

The lyrical topics range from everything from politics to fantasy. I did 3 of the songs for the album, but Kasper did the lyrics for the last 6 songs and he will be responsible for the lyrics in the future as well. Kasper reads a lot of literature and actually is a teacher as well, so he’s very much into reading. Here are some of the songs explained: "A Sevenfold Condemnation": This song deals with the difficulty of upholding a sense of security with mind wars being waged constantly. Obtaining security through failure is a way of accepting the true terms of living, through choices and reflection. Still constant security or reason is an illusion which might help you to avoid the feeling of anxiety within a period of time – then the shadows will devour again. To fail in life or to accept the end of everything is the only way to ever become one with your existence, to ever feel true convalescence from a life that sometimes seems like an everlasting torment. Existentialism is the main theme in the lyrics. "Flames of Liberation": The lyrics in this song are an insight into the power of will, from no determination to pure liberation and freedom; the acceptance of being only human. The song deals with aspects of immortality vs. mortality, and it takes off from the same existentialistic theme, which could be found in "A Sevenfold condemnation". The lyrics are built around this devastation scenario as a ground zero of existentialistic recognition. In the song fire cleanses all and leads the way for liberation.

Basicly we’re Thrash Metal but we have influences from other types of music as well, mainly Death Metal. But what makes our stuff stand out a bit is that we have created a mixture of oldschool metal and newschool metal. Oldschool elements to create the very powerful effective riffs and groove and newschool stuff with keyboards and samples and more technical elements to ensure atmosphere and diversity. On top of that the music is executed by musicians who handle their respective instruments quite well, and I think you are able to hear that as well.

What are your biggest musical influences ?

A lot of oldschool Thrash Metal stuff like Testament, Dark Angel, Forbidden and Exodus but also newer stuff like Darkane, Scarve and Strapping Young Lad are influencing us.


What's your favourite song on " The Machinery Of Oblivion " , and why ?

I do not really have a favourite song because I like all of them in their own unique way. They all have different trademarks, at least to me, that I really like. I guess you can say a song like "Infinite Ghost Anathema" more or less sums up the contents from all the other songs, but I must I really love all of the songs. We’re very proud of them.


Do any of you currently work on projects other than The Arcane Order ?

No. Well, I am also playing in Invocator but we haven’t been doing anything actively for 2 years and I don’t think we’ll be doing more anytime soon. If I had the time I would probably engage myself in more projects, but there’s just not enough time.


What are your favourite all-time bands and albums ?

I guess my top would be something like Slayer - Reign In Blood, Entombed - Left Hand Path, Suffocation - Pierced From Within, Demilich – Nespithe, Forbidden - Forbidden Evil, Autopsy - Severed Survival, Darkane - Rusted Angel, King Diamond – Conspiracy, Cryptopsy - Blasphemy Made Flesh, Rotten Sound – Exit, Ripping Corpse – Dreaming with the dead, Repulsion – Horrified.

There are extremely many great bands and today the scene is stronger than it has ever been. Every country has a great band today and the situation has really improved since some years ago.

Do you have any funny stories about the band you can share with us ?

Well we haven’t been around for that long and still haven’t played any live shows, so the stories are not many yet I am afraid. But when we did our promo 2005 sessions everything was so fucked up all the time. There was just so much bad luck surrounding us and we honestly thought we were cursed. Eventually it ended up with me getting food poisoning in the studio and having to play the last guitar parts with a very high fever and afterwards being tied to the bed non stop for 3 weeks until I was doing okay again.


Which are the projects of the group to short and long-term?

For now we just concentrate on promoting the album and at the same time we will start to rehearse for our upcoming shows. We are planning gigs in Denmark for the Fall and also we are currently enrolling a 2^nd guitarist to use in live situations to ensure a great stage presence. In a few months we will begin to write new songs for the next record as well and hopefully our cooperation with Metal Blade will continue so we can release more albums for them.


Do you think beeing on tour soon ?

Yeah, hopefully we’ll be able to do some touring to promote the album. I think we will be touring Europe late 2006/beginning of 2007 if all turns out well. At least that are the current plans. We can’t wait to get out there and play in front of people!
