Can you tell us more about your new album called « Edge Of The Earth » ?

It's a concept album about someone living in complete isolation for a lifetime. Musically it's a lot heavier and more mature than anything we've done in the past. I think it separates us from a lot of other modern bands as we've found more of our own unique sound.

Can you speak to us about the recording sessions ?

The recording sessions were spread out over a wide period of time. We were doing chunks of recording in between all kinds of tours so it was quite a dragged out process. Even though it took a long time it was still a very fun album to make and the studio enviroment was nice and relaxed. We recorded with Scott Atkins again who is great to work with.

How did you proceed for the composition ?

I do most of the composing at home in front of the computer. I began writing in early 2009 and just kept going until it was time to get in the studio. A lot of the time I tend to write the climax of the song first and build the rest of the song around it.

What are the lyrics talking about ? Where do you find inspiration ?

The lyrics all tell a story but also relate to personal experiences. I have problems with insomnia and spend a lot of time on my own so coming up was the concept was quite easy.

Who created the artwork ?

The artwork was done by a friend of mine called Daniel Goldsworthy who did an amazing job. It came out just as we had hoped it would.

Did you film a promotional video ?

We have just shot a video for the song Empyreal which is looking great at the moment. That was directed by Stuart Birchall. We have also done an album trailer video and we are going to film a live footage video at our album launch show tomorrow.

What’s your favourite track on « Edge On The Earth » and why ?

It's hard to pick one. The opening track Procession, Where The Sky Ends and the title track are all favorites of mine. Procession is really intense and reflects everything we love as a band.

Which songs from the album will you play live ?

Hopefully we will play most of them live at some point although the title track would be hard to replicate properly.

What are your touring plans ?

We have just completed a headline tour. At the moment we're just trying to get as many festivals lined up for the summer.

Do you have funny or strange stories about the band you can share with us ?

Not off the top of my head. A lot of the time some of the things are too gross to talk about. We do like to party a lot when we can. Especially at festivals!

What are your projects for the future ?

Just to carry on writing the next album and tour as much as we can really.
