Interview Soilwork

Can you speak to us about your new album called "Sworn To A Great Divide "?

Well, we are happy with how it tuned out, the production is very alive, and really sounds like a band, there are all kinds of songs there, brutal, melodic, a bit softer stuff, altogether I feel it has a darker feeling to it than our previous ones

How did you proceed for the composition?

Well it’s the first one since peter wichers left the band, so It was kind of weird not having him around in the progress of making an album, but it actually turned out really good, everybody interacted, created and had opinions, I think actually that dirk lay down 17 drumtracks, so we had to choose which songs that would make it to the album.

How long have you been recording the album ?

Well actually it was a slower process than usual, I think it took about 4 months to get the whole think done,

What things inspired you to write the lyrics for "Sworn To A Great Divide"?

Well since Im the bassplayer Im not the right person to answer that question, but if I was to guess I would say that everyday life, and how bjorn experience whats going on around, both in the world as we all know it his own personal world, that not everybody has acces to.

Devin Townsend produced the vocals, can you tell us more about it ?

Well I know for a fact, since we have worked with mr townsend on nbc, that he can pull that little extra energy and vocal ability out of bjorn, and he and dev really get along and feel comfortable together in the studio.

Are there certain songs on the album you want to mention or tell something about ?

hmm, not really I guess you have to listen to it and see if there is any song you think are special……..

Which songs from the album will you playing live ? Why did you choose that ones ?

that’s not yet decided.

Did you shoot any video clips for the album ?

Yepp we shot one for the song called exile.

For you, what are the biggest differences between this new album and the
previous ?

Well when we begun to write stuff for this release, everybody came up with ideas and songs, then I thought it was gonna turn out really different than our previous release, but then when we choose which songs to record, and everybody did their thing with the instruments it for sure sounds like soilwork, if there is any difference, of course there is but its all bits and pieces from what our band is about musically.

How do you prepare yourselves either mentally or physically before you enter on stage ?

There is no specific ritual or anything, well bjorn usually start a classic rock party about an hour before showtime, so we drink a couple of brews and listen to old whitesnake or whatever is decided to get ready for stage…..

Do you have any funny or strange stories about the band you can share with us ?

Hmm the funny story about this band is that we still are band after all the "funny" stuff that has happened to us……..bu ha ha ha ha…….

And finally, can you say some words for my radio show " Metal Choc "?

Beware of the beast that breathes, and devours youre attention on the 19th oct
