Kalle: Happy that it’s finally out. The new album is a bit more uptempo than our earlier ones. It’s also more rocking. Wanted to have something fresh in new stuff and not to do the same album as earlier ones. You can still recognize it as ShamRain but there’s something new in it. Some have said it’s more complicated and needs several times to listen to before it starts opening.

Kalle: Mostly our songs are written by Matti Reinola (Bass, Keyboards). But I write also some songs and Mika Tauriainen creates vocal arrangements. On the new album I’ve done music & lyrics to “Raindrops”, “Passing Shadows” and “Stars Will Fall”. The rest is Matti’s stuff.

Kalle: Lyrics on this album are mostly dealing about death and ghosts. Inspiration comes from real life events, movies, books, good atmospheric music and so on. There are also topics from loneliness, as usual.

Kalle: We recorded demos during autumn 2006 and winter 2007 and after that we started the real album recordings with drums in May if I remember it right. We continued recording process with rest of the instruments during June and July. The mixing took place in August. So if you count song writing also, we did this album for a couple of years.

Kalle: We have a low-budget video from a song “Passing Shadows”. It was edited by Matti and the live parts were filmed by our two friends. So there weren’t any expenses.

Kalle: Hmm, that kinda changes from time to time. But at the moment I think “Evangeline” (such a beautiful and sad story in these lyrics) and “Stars Will Fall” (it’s so dark song, musically and lyrically). I also like very much the lyrics of “Ghosts I see”. The lines “Returning every night/With a hopeless wish/To live once again” are haunting me deeply in a good way.

Kalle: So far we’ve played “Raindrops”, “Shallow Delusion” and “Silent Lullaby”.
I know that we’re playing “Stars will fall” also on upcoming gig.
But it’s possible that we play any song from the album, thought some like “Evangeline” wouldn’t work as good as on album.

Kalle: I think not. It’d be nice, but I think we aren’t selling enough, that Spinefarm would be interested releasing one.

Kalle: There have been some interest, but nothing is sure yet. It’d be great to play live abroad and be on tour. In Europe for example.

Kalle: Actually nothing comes to my mind, which particularly marks the band. There are some incidents happening once in a while. Usually things happen under influence of alcohol. Cops pick up Matti from somewhere, since he is passed out etc. Oh, that happened yesterday. He should ease down a bit.

Kalle: More releases, a bit more growth. At least this is how it has been so I hope it continues that way. This time album went to finnish charts at position 39. It was great, since there were much releases that week and “competition” was tough.
