Can you tell the readers a bit about
the band's history ?
We were founded in 2002 and have released 2 albums so far.
Riefenstahl is solid Rock music with a hard touch. Without any fancies
or superficial clichés. Our music touches todays´ society and is digging
into The dirt of mankind. We are the opposite of todays´ metal clichés
unequal to the everyday life, but music for the people. Our complete

Can you speak to us about your new album called " Instinkt " ?
INSTINKT is the continuation of our first release: SEELENSCMERZ.
INSTINKT was produced in 2006 by our producer Kai Schwerdtfeger. It was
mastered by Adam Ayan (Linkin Park, Godsmack, Disturbed, Papa Roach) in
the Gateway Mastering Studios in Portland, ME. INSTINKT is reaching out
to all fans and we are happy about almost everything. This is a clear
step forward. We of course also have our little problems with the black
sheep in this business. Which unfortunately Seems to be somewhat natural
and can distract you from being a mere artist.
Who is responsible for song writing ?
All Lyrics are written by myself (Jens/Lead vocals)
How did you proceed for the composition ?
All songs are written by all band members together with small
exceptions.
Can you speak to us about the recording sessions ?
Sure. We started recording in October 2005 and finished with a few
breaks in April 2006. As a studio we chose the Echolane Recording Studio
in Bergen, Germany. More infos @
www.echolane.de . All recordings were split into 3
stages: The recording itself, mixing and mastering. In may we has also
finished the mastering. It was a big effort from everybody involved. We
wanted everything to sound as we had planned it before and did want to
leave anything to chance.
What are the lyrics talking about ? Where do you find inspiration ?
It´s the real life that inspires my song writing and lyrics. As
mentioned before, we touch it all: from love up to the actual global
situation, to war, hunger and misery. We talk about what everybody wants
to talk about !!!
What are your favourite songs out of this album? And what makes them so
special for you ?
This question does not relate to our idea / our understanding of
Riefenstahl. I would set other songs back.
Which are the artists who influenced you or whom you appreciate
particularly ?
There are too many to count -
no limits.We do not limit our taste of music to simply rock or metal. We
can also listen to pop or classic. Personally I also like oriental music
and techno. Again, we want to be open to everything, stay fresh and move
on. We do not want to grow old standing in just one corner.
What's your opinion about the international metal scene ?
I do not pay much attention to the metal scene - and I guess I can say
the same about all band members. In Germany for example we find many
uncooperative Behavioural patterns - I call it music-fascism. I do not
listen to European metal, especially not from Germany. In my opinion
European metal is moving into the wrong direction - the quality of this
music is low. Don´t get me wrong but I can perfectly live without fakes
or show offs. This is were I see the difference to the US metal scene.
Here I find a lot of interesting acts that I also see life.
Do you have any funny or strange stories about the band you can share
with us ?
No - Sorry.
Are there any plans for an upcoming tour ?
Not at the moment. We are looking at going on tour end of this year or
in 2008. We´ll see.
What are your projects for the future ?
Again - we´ll see. We have many plans, but will take it easy for now.
We haven´t had enough yet - that´s for damn sure !!!
