| Can you
tell us more about your new album called « The Blue » ? THE BLUE, just like all our other albums is a collection of pure music. No themes, no concepts behind it. Just music. Hard to talk about lyrics, as they’re always written in the flow and very quickly. As if they come straight from some deep hidden place, with no interferences of sort. It’s made of 12 songs, one of which is an instrumental ("Zenith", maybe my fave song!). They’ve all been written very quickly and easily. No big troubles on song writing, recording, mixing, packaging. Just the opposite of what happened with the other albums. A sort of miracle :)
Well it must have taken some 2/3 months, if I remember correcly
Summer 2006 was particularly prolific. Dozens of great tunes came out. So all I had to do was to record them on a Dictaphone and bring them to my band mates. Then we spent some 3 months developing them and we had 12 songs ready. We could have written much more, if we had time. It was quite strange; all that music, all together!!!
Hard to talk about lyrics, I always write them last. This time I
wrote them one week before actually recording the vocals, so, really in
the flow and very quickly. As if they come straight from some deep
hidden place, with no interferences of sort.
I love it all but the award goes to "Zenith". It’s
quite an odyssey and I still can’t believe we made it work. It’s so full
of hard-to-record parts; like for example, classical guitar parts on
distorded gutars and stuff like that.
I like to put it this way; when we wrote Materia we were a bit "up in the clouds", under every aspects. Physical, emotive, etc.. We were working in a deeper lever of consciousness, where aggressiveness and hate barely reach. While THE BLUE was gathered in a more rational stage where reality bothers, causing reactions like aggressiveness and rage.
Travis Smith did it and did hell of a great job. Maybe the best till now. But that’s usual shit. He always overcome himself… Damn, if he’ll ever quit this job I wouldn’t know who to ask to…
By the moment we’re performing Anaemia,
Triesteitaliana, Bluecracy, the second part of Zenith and Argentic.
It’s the result of the director’s free
interpretation of the song. We have us playing in the fields nearby the
town, mixed with images of a girl wandering, looking for something she
can’t find. There’re shades and lights… It’s our first video at all and
we’re very satisfied of it. Its whole black’n’white aura makes it very
classy. Are there certain songs on the album you want to mention or tell something about? There’d be so much to say. I can mention the song "Nascence" which I sang with a female singer (Francesca Iacorossi). It’s the first time we do something like this and experiment succeeded totally. The song was meant to be sung by a male female duo, since its conception.
There’s so much going on in the hands of our management right now. We’ll see what will become real. Now we’re gonna do some great Summer Fests. Check our Myspace to know exact dates (myspace.com/novembre1)
We can’t think of anything else than the 2001 European tour with Opeth and Katatonia. I think it was unrepeatable :)
Well, thanx for ur support and hope to meet u around!!!
