Interview Entwine


 

-It’s once again a little more developed album musically. It has a lot of heavy guitar riffs and more rough vocal lines than on our previous albums. This time we worked with a new producer Janne Joutsenniemi, who did an amazing job. He definitely got the best out of every one of us.

-Mostly Tom and Mika. We all arrange the songs together in our rehearsal place and then usually make a demo of it. After that Mika can write the lyrics and the vocal lines.

-It was very relaxed since Janne is very easygoing. This time we recorded the drums in Petrax studios, which is one of the best and nicest studios in Finland.

-There are many, but now that we have played quite a few gigs ‘Out of you’ is my favourite at the moment. We started our set with that on the German tour and it just gets everything going and rocking.

-It was a very long day when we shot that video, nearly 24h of work, but it was fun of course. It was the first time we worked with the director Markus Nieminen and he is a real pro and such a nice guy to work with. The video itself is quite a typical ‘playing video’ with a little story on the side about a boy who grows old etc. I don’t want to tell the whole story. In my opinion the best part of the video is the huge E-logo that is underneath the band. In the beginning of the video it’s black, but in the middle of the song the lights are turned on so it looks quite impressive. It was all real, the logo, it’s made out of wood. So there’s no computer shit. In my opinion they look a bit stupid most of the times. You can check it out in the multimedia section of our website entwine.org.

-Probably not in the near future, but some day of course. I believe we have to make a few more videos and one proper live filming until we can release one.

-Physically we all have some kind of a stage costume. Some of us use make-up and some a lot of different hair products, spray etc. I usually spend a few minutes by myself something like half an hour before the show, just to get my act together. Then just before the show we are together to have some drinks; beer, vodka, Jägermaister etc. with some friendly ‘cheers’ greetings. Usually we are quite relaxed but little excited of course.

-Of course. I think I was 15 or something and the gig was in the school we went to those days. Mika from Entwine played the drums in that band, so we have the same musical history. It was just so much fun but it must have sounded horrible. It’s such a shame that there aren’t any video recordings of that gig. We did four songs and I believe they were; ‘Wipe out’, ‘Roadrunner’, ‘Black magic woman’ and ‘Hey Joe’. We weren’t that heavy in the beginning J .

-There are many. Usually it’s quite the same every day. You wake up in the bus or the hotel room, have a breakfast, hang out in the city for a few hours, do the sound check, wait a bit, play the show and then there’s the afterparty. Probably the nicest is to meet some old friends that you have met on tour or the colleagues from the other bands. -Well we just did a German tour with Zeraphine(November-06). So I’m afraid not at the moment, but we’ll do several gigs though, at least in Finland, Spain and Russia.

-In December we are going to Spain, where we have never been before, so it’ll be fun. In the beginning of next year we’ll tour in Finland for some time. We’ll also start writing new songs some time in the spring. No time-out for Entwine at the moment.

-We haven’t been to France for a few years so I’m really looking forward to come back there, since it was so much fun the last time we were there. Hopefully many of you French metal heads can come and check us out as well. Keep on rockin’ till it bleeds!!
