| Can you tell us
more about your new album called « Dream And Deliver » ?
We tried to arrange, play and produce all of the songs in
a way most suitable for the song. There were no intentions to press
songs into a pre-planned scheme like "hard-rock", "melodic-rock" or "whatever-rock".
There was a lot of work arranging, recording, listening, rearranging,
rerecording, we spent quite a long time recording and mixing. Still I
would not say it was difficult. We always had the feeling we could
improve and when changing something was necessary we went for it.
How long have you been recording the album? We started writing and recording in November of 2006
and finished by March 2008.
Writing songs, in my case, is nothing
I could force or plan, it just happens.
Can you tell something about the lyrics? The lyrics deal with a wide variety of issues. From personal songs like "Tell me how it feels", "Help me" or "The vow", to more political songs like "King of scum" and "A fool's crusade" and situations everyone sometimes experiences like " I don't wanna wait" and "Keep from falling". "Download a Dream" is about blessings and shortcomings of the internet.
Can you speak to us about your musical evolution ? For you, what are the biggest differences between this new album and the previous? I hope we improved. With all the albums the goal was
to make the best possible album.
Which songs from the album will you playing live ? Why did you choose that ones? Now we're looking forward to the European release, working on promotion for the album. I hope by fall we'll see how touring-plans will develop.
Did you film a promotional video ? No.
That is like asking: "which one of your children you like best and which ones you don't like at all". Impossible for me to answer. Funnily from a lot of reviews I read of the new albums, people don't seem to pick the same songs over and over again as their favourites. Some mention "I don'`t wanna wait", " "A Fools Crusade" and "King of Scum" as their favourites, some name "Same Star", "The Beat" and "The Vow" whereas as other like "Dancing when the night falls", "Download a Dream", " Tell me how it feels" and "Help Me". Yet another circle of people pick "To Everybody", "Keep from Falling" and "Download a Dream reprise". "Stronger" for example gets quite some airplay.
Are there any plans for an upcoming tour ? We hope to go on tour with the new album, but dates are not fixed yet.
Can you tell us an anecdote which particularly marked the band ? Ok, this is the story about how we started to work
with our new bass-player Francis: The very first day something happened
which is very rare in a musicians career. I played Francis a demo of
"The Vow". He said: "It's a good song, but there's something wrong in the
part at the end", I asked "what?", "The way the vocal-line turns is the
wrong way around" he answered. I was stunned,'cause Olaf and me had been
changing that for hours and Francis immediately, without knowing the
original, wanted it to be like the initial idea. Moments like that kept
coming and we were in a real working situation from then on.
Ok, to all the listeners of Metal Choc, if your not familiar with Dreamtide, take a listen and give it a chance, could easily be there`s something you like. |
